About Us
The English Family originates from Barnesville, Georgia. All of the members of this group are family and consist of Phillip (father), Renee’ (mother), Jacob (15-son), Elizabeth (13-daughter) and Rebecca (11-daughter). This group consists of 3 songwriters Phillip, Renee’, and Jacob. They perform mostly original songs but also include some hymns. The English Family are concert favorites for their individuality and humor as well. The English Family will have the crowd laughing and by the time the concert is over, the audience will leave refreshed in their spirit and renewed in their mind.
Phillip and Renee have sung southern gospel music since their early childhood in local area churches. Phillip sang with his father’s group (The Olive Branches) for 10 years and traveled throughout Georgia. Phillip’s grandparents also sang southern gospel and old-time hymns when they evangelized and planted churches all over the southeast. Phillip’s career debuted at the age of five. He would play his guitar and sing “Let’s All Go Down To The River”. Renee sang regularly in her local church and in revivals all over the state of Georgia. Jacob, Elizabeth and Rebecca have all been singing since they were old enough to stand behind a microphone. Jacob has a distinctive country style and has written songs for The English Family’s newest album, which will be released early in 2009.
Elizabeth has a more traditional black gospel sound and adds a great sense of variety and feeling to this group. Rebecca has one of those old time voices and helps to round out the harmony of this talented family.
Phillip and Renee have been married for 17 years and have been involved in several aspects of ministry during those years; including evangelism, music ministry, youth pastorship and pastorship. Phillip has pastored 3 churches over the past 10 years, which gives this group the foundation that is needed to write so many of their songs.
The English Family have sung with many well know artists such as The Perry’s, The Perry Sisters, The Freemans, The New Hinsons, and Jeff and Sherri Easter, just to name a few.
